Providing an outdoor seating or dining area with a rug is one of the quickest ways to provide both comfort and design impact. Many enjoy a completely different, seasonally fun look while others prefer to make the outdoor area a continuance of the rest of their home. A rug is a great look to any outdoor space regardless of what you choose.
When selecting outdoor rugs, do consider how much direct weather they’ll see. Bamboo and sisal rugs are wonderful natural fibers, and while they do dry out quickly from water or rain, they can be difficult to clean. Synthetic fibers like polypropylene and nylon are both UV and water resistant. Other materials can mildew while they will not. You will want to be sure that your outdoor rug comes with rubber backing. Drying times will be so much quicker. Outdoor rugs are available in virtually the same sizes as indoor ones. Many times, however, a 6’ x 9’ can work very well as an accent in a large area. When you shop for an outdoor rug, make sure to have the measurements with you for your space. An outdoor rug can add just the right thing to make an outdoor setting perfect.
